The Outer Barrier Reef’s Saxon Reef is a patch reef. It is about 55 kilometres north-east of Cairns.
Saxon Reef is home to a diverse range of marine life, including white-tip reef sharks, diagonally banded sweetlips, barramundi cod, and dozens of wrasse, parrotfish, and butterflyfish.
Smaller bommies and giant boulder corals dot the lagoon area of this reef. You can explore a fascinating underwater world thanks to the varied seascape.
