This tour is a minimum of 5 days – or extend your time by spending as many nights as you choose on the Great Barrier Reef! It can be done in any order you choose, with as many days break in between if you wish

Accommodation is included on this tour for only the number of nights you choose to spend on the liveaboard boat, plus one night dormitory style accommodation in the Atherton Tablelands

White Water Rafting – Full Day Tour

Exhilarating white water awaits you as you spend a day rafting through the World Heritage Rainforest on the mighty Tully River. This is an action packed experience filled with fun, thrills and spills on a day you will never forget! Raft down grade 3 and 4 rapids with an unforgettable backdrop, stopping for a delicious riverside BBQ lunch

*This tour does not include a fee of $30AUD per person rafting levy, which is to be paid directly to the rafting company on the day of your rafting tour

Tully River Itinerary

  • 06:10 – Pick ups from Northern Beaches accommodation OR
  • 06:30 – Pick ups from Cairns accommodation commence
  • 07:00 – Depart Cairns
  • 07:30 – Pick ups from Mission Beach accommodation
  • 08:00 – Depart Mission Beach
  • 08:30 – Arrive at Rafters Cafe for morning tea and coffee
  • 09:00 – Depart Rafters Cafe & Bar
  • 09:45 –  Arrive at top of the Tully River for a safety demonstration and to be supplied with safety equipment
  • 10:00 – Commence rafting. Brave the first few rapids
  • 12:15 –  Arrive Ponytail Falls for  BBQ lunch
  • 12:45 –  Commence afternoon rafting
  • 15:00 –  Arrive at take out point. Pack up raft and change into dry clothes
  • 15:45 –  Arrive at Rafters Cafe & Bar.
  • 17:00 –  Return to Mission Beach accommodation
  • 18:30 – Return to Cairns accommodation (approx.) OR
  • 19:15 –  Return to Northern Beaches accommodation

What to Bring Rafting

  • Secured footwear is mandatory – lace-up shoes or sandals that can get wet
  • Pay on Board Levy of $30.00 AUD per person
  • Swim wear – Please have your swimming costume already on when you are picked up
  • Towel
  • Change of clothes
  • You will need to sign an adventure waiver form prior to participation in rafting activities
  • A cap or sun visor which can be worn under your safety helmet (eg. baseball hat)
  • Water resistant 15 + sunscreen
  • Some money for photos and souvenirs
  • We strongly recommend you bring an extra t-shirt or rash vest to wear under your life vest to prevent sunburn
  • Enthusiasm for an awesome day!

Additional Rafting Information

  • Minimum age: 13 years – under 18 years must travel with a guardian or parent
  • Rafting is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant 


Atherton Tablelands & Waterfalls (two days, one night)


DAY 1  –  Waterfalls & Rainforest

Venture by bus up the spectacular Gillies Mountain Range and to the beautiful Atherton Tablelands, stopping at the famous ‘Cathedral Fig Tree’ before enjoying a rainforest walk at Lake Barrine National Park for lunch and a swim at Lake Eacham. Take a dip at several pristine waterfalls including the beautiful Millaa Millaa falls – with a jungle trek to view the raging Dinner Falls and the Crater in Mt Hypipamee National Park.

Overnight accommodation is at the award winning ‘On the Wallaby Backpackers Lodge’, with platypus spotting before a seriously good BBQ dinner and dormitory style accommodation.

DAY 2  Wildlife Canoeing – Mountain Bikes

After a self-serve breakfast you will be treated to a guided mountain bike ride through the lush, green Atherton Tablelands countryside and a rainforest walk at the volcanic crater, Lake Eacham.

In the afternoon explore a secluded area of Lake Tinaroo with a guided canoeing tour spotting rare wildlife such as tree kangaroos, birds and water dragons. Then, have your face painted with Aboriginal Ochre clay.

At the end of the day you will return to Yungaburra village for a hot shower, a cup of tea or coffee before returning to Cairns at approximately 7.00pm.

7:45 am Pick-ups commence from Cairns

9:00 am  Arrive at Gordonvale for snacks

9:30 am  Visit Heales Lookout

10:00 am Arrive at the Cathedral Fig tree (rainforest talk and animal spotting)

10:45 am Arrive at Lake Barrine

12:00 noon Lake Eacham National Park for lunch and a swim

13:45 pm  Millaa Millaa Falls for photo’s and swim

15:00 pm Lookout on top off Millaa Millaa Waterfall

15:45 pm Mt Hypipamee to visit the famous crater and Dinner Falls

16:45 pm Depart for Wallaby Lodge (domitory accommodation)

17:15-1740 pm  Arrive at the Wallaby Lodge for tea/coffee and biscuits

17:45 pm Depart for platypus spotting

18:45 pm  Dinner and accommodation at Wallaby Lodge (Dinner: BBQ sausage/steak mash potato, coleslaw and tossed salad) (Accommodation is Dormitory Style)


8:00 am Breakfast (Cereal, toast , tea and coffee)

9:00 am Depart for Curtain Fig Tree walk and talk

9:45 am 15 km bike ride (If you’re not confident on such a long bike ride, you may choose to do a 3km bike ride to the lake then enjoy a 3km walk around the lake to meet up with the group after.) Stop and start on the ride, we’ve time to talk and take photo’s – the bike ride is very mild unless the group asks for harder ride

12:00 am Arrive at Lake Eacham for a swim

12:30 pm Bike ride to a roadhouse for optional lunch (Lunch is at own expense for day two with this tour)

13:30 pm Arrive back to wallable lodge for water, sun cream and collect life jackets

15:45 pm Afternoon Canoe trip

16:00 pm Return to Wallaby Lodge

17:30 pm Return to Cairns
