What is Certified Scuba Diving?

Certified diving is for already qualified scuba divers who hold a minimum licence of ‘Open Water Diver level or higher. The Dive Supervisor will check your dive license at the start of your Reef Encounter tour. If you’re not already Open Water Certified or higher, check out our Resort Dive packages (no experience necessary) or become Certified with a Learn To Dive Course!

What are my tour options as a Certified Diver?

Choose your accommodation type and how long you’d like to stay on the Great Barrier Reef, then add your dive package:

– A Certified Diving Package

Certified divers will be paired to dive together as buddies, following a site briefing of each dive site. If your travelling alone – you’re not alone! Many qualified divers travel solo onboard Reef Encounter. The Dive Supervisor on your trip will team you together with a suitable dive buddy

– Certified Diving with a Guided Dive Package

Where a crew member and you guide every dive, a crew member guides every dive, and you will be diving with other certified divers who also choose to go with the Guide. Scuba diving with an experienced crew member means you get to see all the prime spots and don’t need to think about navigation – your guide will point out the breathtaking creatures that otherwise may be missed and can enhance your underwater experience

Not sure whether to take the guided tour option? No need to decide in advance – you can book a certified diving package and choose to book onboard as many or as little dives as you like with a Guide

– Private Certified Guided Dives

If divers require private scuba tours, they must book their trip with ‘Top Deck Club Accommodation’ – which includes a personal crew member solely assigned to your booking party for the duration of your stay

– Scuba Courses

Enhance your existing dive skills by enrolling on one of our higher dive training courses. An Advanced Adventure Course or Diver Stress & Rescue Course with Reef Encounter is a great way to further your dive qualifications and have fun scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef! A great option to become a more qualified, confident scuba diver.
